Chris Herd

I've just seen that Chris Herd is back in Australia. He's signed a two year deal with Western Sydney Wanderers in the A- League. He should be playing in a friendly next week against Arsenal. I would have thought he'd have gone better than he did for the Gills.

It's an interesting move. It is evident last season's issues were about the lack of fitness and training tolerated by Edinburgh. Herd, probably due to his age and lack of playing time, appeared affected by this the most. I liked him when he arrived but soon after appeared twice as big and half as capable. He was then dropped and not seen again. Why he and other players allowed themselves to put on weight or not keep their fitness up is a mystery but he could have been good for us. The level he has gone to is a surprise however.
