Lesser in terms of in terms of by comparision to European football where even the Brazilian leagues are considered lesser. That said, he is at the Gills so we are well down that particular list!!!!

Sometimes I think people in England forget that the rest of the world is catching up fast in football terms. Just look at the recent form of teams like Iceland and Costa Rica. Who would of thought Burkina Faso and Mali would be so good. I should imagine half the folks down Lower Gillingham would never have heard of these places. With the possible exception of Celtic I don't think any other Scottish team would stand a chance of winning the Thai, Japanese, South Korean or Chinese leagues, and Gillingham certainly wouldn't. Even in the Premier league, nearly all the star players are non English with Harry Kane the only one coming immediately to mind being the exception. I think a lot of people in England might have that American disease of not being able to see beyond the horizon. Donald Trump and Brexit could be possible side effects of that malady.

You are right but you hit the nail in "catching up fast". As things stand I'm not sure anyone would say the Thai league is better than the Premier League in the same way the Premier League wasn't as good Serie A back in the 90s. That's just how it is. You only have to look at the World Club champions to see that all bar 4 of the last 13 competitions have been won by European sides and the other 4 by Brazilian ones.

There is no doubt the gap is closing but as things stand, they are not on a par yet.

Every Premier League, A league,1st. Division or what ever you call it has got it's 4 or 5 good clubs, who on any day of the week could beat Chelsea , the difference is that over five or six games playing each other Chelsea would whip their butts four times out of six.
You forget Boomerang Bob,games in July are pre season friendlies for European clubs, your kind of upside down to us, as your season ends ours is just starting.

I agree with most of above. Obviously the big leagues of England, Spain, Germany, Italy and to a lesser extent France and Portugal except for the top handful in those countries are by far and away the best. However, there are goodness knows how many countries in Europe and the standards in many of these countries is not very high at all. As you know, there have been many Asian players now starring in European teams and remember when S.Korea made the semi-finals of the World Cup under Gus Hiddink. The football world is definitely evolving. Whilst writing, Kane came straight to mind and I agree Rose and Ali are terrific but I couldn't imagine the others getting in the top 4 teams of the leagues I mentioned. Look at some of the recent England teams where there are players selected that are not even first team players for their league sides. How many managers, centre forwards and goalkeepers, some of the most important people in a team, in the Premier League are English? There are many ways of looking at this but for me, I much prefer watching my low level teams and country that I support than the super rich, greedy playthings of overseas billionaires who many have no doubt earned their wealth in dubious ways. I find some of the money now floating around as obscene.

I agree. A lot seem to be filtering that way too with average players capable of quadrupling their wages in China. No doubt it will bring big money in for them but you have to question if it will improve their football at all. Maybe, ironically, more of those will end up plying their trade in England!

Well since Zesh Rehman has signed for Gillingham, The Gills have picked up six points out of a possible nine, we have conceded five and scored five in those three matches, but had someone said to you last week that Gillingham would get six points against Southend United, Swindon Town and Bury, then we would have taken that.

The Standard Of League One is improving, Jermaine Pennant at Bury, Yakubu at Coventry City, Gillingham Signing Paul Konchesky and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Peterborough United signing Marcis Maddison, Adam Le Fondre at Bolton Wanderers, Nicky Law and Matthew Kilgallon at Bradford City and Matty Taylor at Northampton Town, players who have played in The Premier League and Championship, and Nicky Law was with Rangers Last Season as well, and I do agree that we don't pay a lot of attention to Asia and African Football League's, but we also forget just how appealing the lower league's in England are, for example, Sheffield United's attendance against Bolton Wanderers at Bramall Lane was 27,165, I cannot think of many countries where a team in The Third Tier gets an attendance of 27,165.

I was impressed with Zesh at Bury,he didn`t mess about trying to play the ball out,he would boot it clear and away from danger. He was constantly talking to his other team mates which must have helped.Hopefully he will keep it up.

Nine Points out of a possible Twelve now, and with three wins in our last four games, you have to ask where would Gillingham be in The League One Table had we signed Zesh Rehman at the start of the season ???
