Exactly. Rimshot, if my post was irrelevant then you didn't make yourself clear initially?

"Football clubs are not supermarkets, commercial enterprises don t judge success through 90 minutes physical exertion against a different competitor every week, managers are employees not owners".
I asked why should the owner of a business be passionate about it and in the case of football why do they have to support the club? Have you watched Dragon's Den or The Apprentice? Many of those have no interest in the sector they invested in or know anything about it yet will often be equal partners in it. It purely a money making excercise so why should owning a football club be any different TO THEM? I think it was a valid point that if a chief exec at Asda had no loyalties and joined Tesco then the chief exec of a football club wouldn't have to be a supporter. I repeat, the managers don't often support it and they, according to your comment, are employees are they not?

"As for our catering and hospitality we sold most of that off because it was losing money".
We leased it out because we were offered a deal too good to turn down and they pulled out when they realised. That was solely their fault on that one! We have it back and seem to be doing fine!

If you think the fans experience in the Medway stand is Premiership quality I suggest the last time you saw a first tier match must have been when Northampton were there.
You didn't state the fans. You said Scally's office and facilities and yes, the facilities are superb. If your daughter was a big fan and got married there I'm sure you'd be very proud! What exactly should be in a football stand that currently isn't? The toilets are far better than in the Rainham End!

1066 has this exactly right. Scally remains in place because of the abject lack of ambition that is sadly evident in your post.
Just check my bank account and sadly I thought I had a spare £10m in there. Oh well, same old next year then. Of course there's lack of ambition! We need a new owner with money but even then we need far bigger gates so he can actually spend some of it! Until that day comes we are stuck with what we have and are bound on spending by the income we receive due to Football League regulations.

To put your posts in some kind of context the top paid exec at Leicester city draws a salary of £108,000, that's less than half Scally's basic. It's very odd that you're quite happy to take lower tier football but you want to keep your Chairman on Premiership terms. No danger of you losing your place in the press box I suppose.

Getting nasty now?! Scally has no idea I exist. I commentate for blind supporters.....that's it! I'm not dependant on him nor do I report to him and I said at the start I am neither a fan nor a critic of his. You clearly have no idea about the behind the scenes set up at the club but if you did you would see what good people the media team are (not Scally apologists or family members as you would hope they were), I simply do a service for them! Remember you are often one to reiterate that opinions (usually with Gillsfan) can be different but you seem rarely ever to accept anything I say!

I guess the guy at Leicester didn't take home £108k? No bonuses or larger expenses as is the norm? Often these people have smaller basic pay as they have higher extras. I don't know but we can't (and wasn't) comparing with Premiership clubs as they are in a different ball park, you mentioned Football League clubs in your earlier post. I didn't say Scally should be on "Premiership terms" either I simply said that we have no figures for his piers to compare with and that his salary didn't seem too far off what other people I know of in similar roles take home. That's all I can compare with but I won't be comparing with clubs in the top flight.

What can you say after dear old Mr. Lidbits comments, Come on THE CHATS , CHATHAM, CHATHAM, CHATHAM WERE GOING TO WIN THE CUP.
Not much point in going to see Gillingham play, God forbid they might more by luck than judgement get promoted , have gates of 8 or 9,000 , major crushes ,lines for the bog where he needs to go twice each half to change his diapers, no tea or pies during the half time show, lines to long, and to go for a 100 minutes with out using his choppers will probably lead to lock jaw or something. By the way don't forget to miss the local Derby's between The Chats and Sittingborne and Faversham, I heard they sometimes have 263 people for those games, avoid the crowds those weeks, go watch Wouldham play.
Good GOD, you sound like Albert Steptoe , give us a ggrrrr like he used to, go on you can do it " GGGGGGG 'Arold where's me dinner ", yeah you did it well done old mate, lol.
