[ 2 May 26 ] GILLS v Shrewsbury Town Match Thread

- Shrewsbury lead the wins by 26 victories to the Gills' 20 and a further 26 have been drawn including each of the last 2 meetings and 4 of the previous 5. The Gills are winless in 5 matches against Shrewsbury and have lost 1 of them since the Gills last win in January 2020.

(15.16) A strong cross from the right from the visitors finds the head of Ruffels in perfect position on the edge of the 6 yard box but he heads just over.
(15.18) Half hearted appeals for a Shrewsbury penalty are waved away.
(15.26) Morgan charges down the left and weaves between a couple of defenders before crashing a shot off the left post.
(15.38) A Shrewsbury free kick is floated to the far post where it is headed into the empty part of the net before Jonny Williams heads clear from just a couple of yards out.

(16.17) With the goal gaping, somehow Marquis gets his shot completely wrong and blazes over with Morris stranded.
(16.26) Hale tries his luck from distance and its narrowly wide.
(16.34) The 4th official comes out and the Gills players rush to the touchline to form a guard of honour for retiring Sam Vokes who comes off holding his face to hide his tears.
(16.36) McDermott receives a through ball and lifts the ball over the advancing Morris but the shot drifts wide of the post and McDermott repeatedly punches the pitch on disgust.
(16.43) On his final game before retiring, Morris pulls off a fantastic save to keep the score at 0-0.
(16.49) The fourth official indicates a minimum of 5 minutes of the season is left.
