[ 10 Aug 24 ] GILLS v Carlisle Utd Match Thread

- The Gills start their season with a home match for the first time since the 2021/2 season. It will be only the 3rd time in 9 seasons that Priestfield will host the Gills' first game of a new campaign.
- The Gills just the number of wins over Carlisle by 22 wins to 19 and just 11 of the 52 meetings were drawn. The last season between the sides ended 1-0 wins for each home side with Carlisle winning 2 of the last 3 and the Gills winning 3 of the last 6. The 3 draws in the last 21 meetings have all come at Priestfield.
- Since Carlisle's last victory at Priestfield back in December 1994, they are winless in 7 trips with the Gills winning 4 of them and 3 ending level. Carlisle's last 7 visits to Priestfield saw them score just 1 goal and just 2 goals in their last 10 trips.
- Of Carlisle's 51 league and cup games last season, 8 games were won and 34 were lost. Since 4 consecutive wins in March 2023, the last time they enjoyed at least back-to-back wins, Carlisle have won 11 and lost 38 of their 65 league and cup games.
- In January and February, Carlisle lost 8 consecutive League 1 games and 12 out of 13 going into March. Since 6th January, Carlisle have won just 3 of the 21 games played and suffered 17 defeats in those games.
- Between October and February, Carlisle drew 1 and lost 10 out of 11 league and cup games on the road. Since then, the 3 wins secured up to the end of the season all came away from home and in their most recent 7 games on the road and the most recent 2 came in the last 4.
- The Gills have won 2 and drawn 1 of the last 3 games played at Priestfield on the opening day of the season. They have won 7 and drawn 2 of the last 10 home games on the opening day with the other match being a defeat in 2013.
