[ 5 Mar 24 ] Barrow AFC v GILLS Match Thread

- A defeat and a draw were the results of the Gills' first meetings with Barrow last season since the 1971/2 season. The Gills have won 10 of the meetings with Barrow winning 6 and a further 6 matches were drawn.
- The Gills are winless in 6 meetings with Barrow and their last win dates back to April 1969. The Gills last 4 visits to Barrow have seen 1 draw and 3 losses since their last victory in October 1967.
- In all competitions between the end of October and Christmas, Barrow won 9 out of the 10 matches played. From Boxing Day onwards, they have won 2 of the 11 games since including 1 from their most recent 7.
- The Gills have won their last 2 league games and have not conceded a goal in 3 games. Barrow lost their last 3 league games (conceding 9 goals in them) as part of a 9 game run producing 2 wins following a League 2 unbeaten spell of 14 games which saw 7 consecutive wins.

(19.55) The hosts get another yellow card, this time for a very strong challenge that send Coleman crashing to the ground.

(20.14) Coleman is robbed on the edge of the Gills box. Barrow strike the ball well but is not facing directly at goal and so drills the shot well wide.

(20.18) A Barrow attack evades Morris and falls to the far post where the awaiting attacker smashes a fierce shot across the face of goal from only a few yards out.

(20.23) A Barrow corner is punched away by Morris and the ball falls to the edge of the box where a scuffed half volley trickles wide from a good position.

(20.31) The referee adds on two minutes of first half stoppage time.

(20.48) The second half kicks off.

(20.52) Barrow start the half quickly with a couple of good looking chances but ones which Morris had covered.

(20.59) GOAL! Barrow AFC 2-0 Gillingham: Acquah

(21.26) Fabulous curling pass from Hutton takes the ball away from 2 stretching defenders and perfectly to the feet of Walker but the 'keeper just about gets there first.

(21.28) Great play by Walker to bring the ball down with his back to goal to find Hutton. His cross evades everyone and it comes back to him but his curling shot is well held by the 'keeper.

(21.33) The game will end with a minimum of 6 additional minutes.

(21.37) The Gills win their 5th corner in the space of 2 minutes after panicky goalmouth scramble.

(21.38) Masterson and Hutton are yellow carded after both squared up to each other!
