[ 3 Feb 24 ] GILLS v Walsall Match Thread

Postby Garawa » Sat Jan 27, 2024 9:34 am

- The Gills and Walsall have both won 47 meetings between the sides and a further 25 were drawn. However Walsall have won both the last 2 matches between the sides and are unbeaten in 6 (4 wins) since the Gills last win in November 2017.
- Walsall have enjoyed coming to Priestfield of late and have not tasted defeat in their last 8 visits - 2 wins and 6 draws. 4 of those draws were 0-0s and Walsall have kept clean sheets in their last 3 at Priestfield. The Gills last home win came back in September 2007.
- Walsall have won 6 league and cup games from their last 10 matches but are winless in their last 3. Those wins matched the 6 victories before them since the start of the season and occurred over Walsall's first 25 league and cup games of the season.
- In league and cup, Walsall have lost their last 2 away games 1-3 and 0-4 following their last win on the road - a 6-1 victory at Grimsby. They have lost 4 of their last 6 away league games but have won 1 and lost 1 of their last 2 with 11 goals scored in those games.
- Walsall have been behind in all bar 1 of their away league games this season. The 19 leads conceded in their 14 league games on the road is the most in League 2 and 4 more than the total number of leads conceded by the Gills home and away.
- Walsall are the only side in League 2 yet to keep an away clean sheet. They have kept 5 in total in the division, half the number achieved by the Gills as 1 of 4 sides in League 2 with the most clean sheets kept.
