- Charlton are well ahead on wins, enjoying victory in 18 meetings whilst the Gills have won 7. A further 14 games were drawn. Charlton are unbeaten in 3 games against the Gills and have won the last 2 with clean sheets.
- Charlton are unbeaten in 3 visits to Priestfield, drawing their previous 2 trips 1-1 and winning the preceding game in April 2019. 7 of the last 14 games at Priestfield against Charlton have ended 1-1. The last time the Gills beat Charlton at home was in September 2017.
- This is the 3rd meeting with Charlton in the FA Cup after a 3-2 home win in 2003 and a 0-1 away loss in 1933. Another win would make it 27 wins in Round 2 for the Gills. They have drawn 20 and lost 29 of their 75 games so far in Round 2.
- The Gills have only met higher league opposition in Round 2 at Priestfield 3 times previously and are unbeaten in those games (1 win). Home and away they have won 3 and lost 3 of the 8 FA Cup Round 2 ties against sides from higher divisions.
- Charlton started the season with 6 defeats from their opening 8 league and cup games. They have lost just 2 of the 16 games played since and are unbeaten in their last 7 (4 wins).
- Alfie May did not score in his first 3 games for Charlton meaning he scored 16 goals in his previous 15 games for the club. The Gills' last 15 games have seen 15 goals scored in total for all players at the club.

(16.19) From a Gills corner, Dieng sends a header just over.

(16.53) Jayden Clarke finds Lapslie whose shot just clears the bar.

(16.59) The referee adds on 9 additional minutes but it may be more as the corner flag has been broken in half. There's no spare and it has to be taped back together.

(17.02) Malone's close range effort is stopped by the Charlton 'keeper.

(17.09) FULL TIME 2-0
