[ 15 Aug 23 ] Sutton Utd v GILLS Match Thread

Postby Garawa » Fri Jul 28, 2023 7:35 pm

- Both sides won their home fixture against each other last season, the only time the sides have met other than a 3-9 FA Cup Qualifying round defeat for the Gills in the 1945/6 season.
- Sutton made a strong start to the campaign with a 5-1 home win over Notts County and a win on penalties at home to Cambridge from League 1 before losing at Barrow. These followed a final day draw after 6 straight defeats as part of a winless run of 11 games to end last season.
- Sutton are the joint highest scorers (alongside MK Dons) in League 2 with 6 goals in 2 games. Their goal difference of +3 is also the joint highest with MK Dons and Mansfield. They are 1 of 4 sides to score 3 first half goals but are the only 1 of those 4 not to have conceded.
- The Gills won 9 corners against against Accrington whilst Sutton conceded 9 in their game against Barrow. Sutton's 5 corners in their 2 games is the fewest so far and the 9 more conceded than won is the joint worst difference.
