Today I put my $100 on the Gills to win the Second Division title at 12/1, and another $100 at 11/4 for them to get promoted one way or another. No new forwards bought in so are we gong to have another slow start for the Gills, no new signings until Christmas when were in the bottom half of the table, and the top four or five teams are 15 or 16 points ahead of us ? First match is August the 5th if I remember right and looking at my calendar that's two weeks away and two pre -season games away ,not a lot of time for any new players coming in to get to know the rest of the squad. Don't mean to be a Donny Downer but I really expected our new owner to go all out early and bring players in before now,I guess Scally explained to him that bringing players in is like the stores on Christmas Eve, wait until the last minute to buy players and like Christmas gifts they drop the price just before they close. I bought my child a doll in a box like that one year ,when she opened it the next morning the doll only had one shoe in the box. In that case it didn't really matter that much,it only had one damn leg.

One trialist scored a goal in all the pre -season games , so I am guessing he is now going to be our new goal scoring savior, does anyone know his name ? Hang on here it is ,I am reading the report in the Kent Messenger on the Herne Bay game, what does it say, yady yady yady, OK here it is , a sparkling display by trialist Brian George Yeo showed the world you are never to old to play soccer. Herne Bay players appealed for offside when the ball bounced off his care givers head into the net, while she was pushing his wheel chair into the penalty box, but Yeo claimed it was the Head of God that scored the goal,so it was allowed, and the Gills went on to win 0-2.
Latest new from the Herne Bay hospital is that the care giver 83 year old Mrs. Mary Buxton was expect to make a full recovery and should be ready to lead the team pushing Brian's chair out for the first home game of the new season.

So against league sides this pre-season the Gills managed to score one goal and concede nine,things are not really looking good when we have bought in nothing but midfield and defensive players this off season, and still not a goal scorer in site...I know it isn't proper football but I wish someone had told that to Cambridge United.
