[ 4 Oct 22 ] GILLS v Brighton U23s Match Thread (EFLT-A2)

Postby Garawa » Sat Oct 01, 2022 5:49 pm

- The Gills won their first 2 matches with academy sides since the new format of the Football League Trophy began (2-0 vs West Brom and 7-5 vs Reading). Since then, they have won 1, drawn 1 and lost 2 (last season losing 0-2 to West Ham).
- The Gills have lost their last 2 home games in this competition 0-2. They drew the game before (losing on penalties to Arsenal) making them winless in 3 home Papa John's Trophy matches after back-to-back wins over Tottenham U23s and Crawley Town.
- Since winning 2 and drawing 1 of their group games in this competition back in 2019, Brighton U23s have lost 4 of their group games since and won just once (at Northampton last season). They lost their opening match this season at Colchester.
- Brighton's U21s are 8th in Premier League 2 with 2 wins and 3 defeats from their 7 games so far this season.
