- The Gills last met Hartlepool in the league in the 2009/10 season when the 2 games ended with a defeat and a draw. Although winning at Hartlepool in the FA Cup in November 2018, they have not won there in the league in 6 visits since a 2-1 win in September 1989.
- The Gills lead the wins over Hartlepool by 16 wins to 11 and a further 9 meetings have been drawn. The Gills are unbeaten in 3 league and cup meetings.
- Hartlepool have won just 1 of their last 20 league and games, beating Harrogate in the Football League Trophy. They have drawn 7 and lost 11 of their last 18 league games and last won a home league match back in February, 13 games ago (D L D D L L L L D L D D W).
- 23rd and 24th placed Hartlepool and Rochdale are the only sides in League 2 yet to secure a win. Although Hartlepool have yet to win, they have lost only once at home and have drawn their other 3 home games 0-0, 0-0 and 1-1.
- Hartlepool have taken the fewest shots on target in League 2 with 19, only 1 fewer than the Gills. They have also faced the most with 57; their -38 difference in shots on target is 26 shots worse than the Gills.
- The Gills have scored the fewest number of goals in League 2 (2) whilst Hartlepool have conceded the most in the division (17). The last 4 games saw Hartlepool score 2, 1, 1 and 0 goals, exactly the same number of goals conceded by the Gills in their last 4 (1, 0, 1 and 2).
- The Gills are the only side yet to score a second half league goal this season. Hartlepool have conceded 11 second half league goals, the most in the division, and their -10 second half goal difference is also the worst total in League 2.
