[ 26 Mar 22 ] Accrington Stanley v GILLS Match Thread

- The Gills lead the wins over Accrington by 8 wins to 5 and there have been 4 draws. From the last 8 meetings, the Gills have lost 1 and won 4 including all 3 of their last visits. Since successive 7-4 (Oct 2010) and 4-3 (Jan 2012) defeats, the Gills are unbeaten in 4 trips.
- The home sides in games between the Gills and Accrington have not scored in the last 6 meetings let alone won. The last 6 games have ended Gills 0-0 Accrington, Accrington 0-1 Gills, Gills 0-2 Accrington, Accrington 0-1 Gills, Gills 0-0 Accrington and Accrington 0-2 Gills.
- Accrington have won just 4 of their last 15 league games however these wins have all come in their most recent 4 successive home matches. The Gills have 4 wins from their last 11 games with the most recent 2 coming in their last 3 away games.
- Accrington are winless in 8 away from home and have lost 6 of the last 7. At home however, they are unbeaten in their last 9 and won 6 of them.
- Along with Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland and Wigan, Accrington have the joint fewest home blank sheets. They have only failed to score at home to AFC Wimbledon in the league this season.

(15.14) Long Jackson throw this time is flicked on by Oliver at the near post. The 'keeper collides with a Gills player and fumbles it. Tucker and Thompson both try to steer the ball towards goal and the home defence just about do enough to clear the danger.

(15.28) Kelman sprints through on goal but a last ditch tackle denies him, Thompson and O'Keefe who was taken out with a studs up challenge.

(15.40) Thompson sends in a cross which takes the slightest of touches from Oliver inside the box, but it's guided just beyond the left post.

(16.05) The second half kicks off.

(16.11) Kelman receives the ball on the left hand side, cuts inside his man and goes for goal 25 yards out. His effort is gathered at the second attempt.

(16.11) Adedoyin is through one-on-one and attempts to guide a shot into the bottom left corner, forcing Chapman into an excellent save!

(16.16) Pell's header at the far post is going in, the ball is behind Chapman who pulls off an amazing Gordon Banks type save.

(16.24) A long Jackson throw finds Oliver who somehow escapes the grasp of a defender trying to wrestling him to the ground in the box. Oliver smashes the ball goalward hard enough that the 'keeper can only allow the ball to run over his hands to Kelman who scores from 3 yards out.

(16.24) GOAL! Accrington Stanley 0-1 Gillingham: Kelman

(16.27) Adedoyin goes down inside the box but the referee says no penalty and Chapman collects the loose ball.

(16.33) GOAL! Accrington Stanley 0-2 Gillingham: Oliver

(16.50) Penalty! Ryan Jackson fouls Harvey Rodgers inside the area.

(16.51) GOAL! Accrington Stanley 1-2 Gillingham: Bishop (pen)

(16.57) Jack Tucker climbs all over the Stanley attacker but the referee feels it is not worthy of a penalty.

(16.58) FULL TIME 1-2

Is this the same game that is being played today Saturday March 26th 2022, or is this a game in the future being played on the 26th of April 2022 ? I hope you don't write those children you teach report forms, I bet you don't even know which face fits which name on the report card. Come on you Gills 0-2 up with 15 minutes to go,come on you blues.
