Postby Garawa » Tue Feb 08, 2022 3:18 pm

- There have only been 9 meetings between the Gills and Morecambe. The Gills have won 5 whilst the host have won just 1. The Gills are unbeaten in 4 meetings.
- The Gills last won at Morecambe in January 2009. They are winless in 3 visits, a spell which included Morecambe's only success over the Gills in October 2011.
- Morecambe have lost 20 matches this season in all competitions and the Gills have lost 19. The Gills have lost 11 of their last 15 whilst Morecambe's last 11 defeats spanned 22 league and cup games. Morecambe's last 8 games saw them win 2, draw 3 and lose 4. The Gills have won 2 out of 3.
- Morecambe followed up 6 home league games without a win (3 defeats) by winning 2 and losing 1 of the 4 since. They have scored 9 goals in those 4 games compared with 4 in the 6 before.
- The 9 meetings between the sides have produced just 3 clean sheets, all kept by the Gills. Morecambe have 9 league blank sheets this season. The sides with more are: Lincoln (10); the Gills & AFC Wimbledon (11); Shrewsbury, Bolton & Crewe (12) and Doncaster (15).
- There have been 102 goals scored in Morecambe's 31 league games, more than any other League 1 side thanks in part to them conceding to most goals in the division (60). 51 goals have come in their away games and 51 at home, the joint highest at home along with Fleetwood.

(15.11) Centre-back Masterson drives a fierce shot from deep just wide of the post.

(15.14) Another powerful effort from outside of the box by the Gills sees a neat lay off by Dickson-Peters for Thompson who lashes a shot just wide.

(15.20) O'Keefe has a goal-bound effort which deflects off an out-stretched leg of the opposing captain and on to the roof of the net for a corner.

(15.38) Gnahoua for Morecambe strikes the corner of the post and bar and the ball flies high and out of the ground.

(15.39) The pitch is very slippery. Oliver slipped and looked in pain but has continued. O'Keefe then has a shot on target but slips and the ball reaches the 'keeper easily.

(15.42) Ayunga for Morecambe gets the host's first shot on target and it needs a good save from Chapman.

Damn, but I guess a point is a point, and two of the three just above the drop zone went down today, so we didn't lose any ground in digging out of the hole were in.
