- The Gills have won just 2 of the 23 meetings whilst Ipswich have won 10. 11 games have been drawn. The Gills are winless in 6 meetings and have lost 4 of them.
- The Gills have failed to score in their last 4 ties with Ipswich. 2 of the 4 games ended 0-0.
- The Gills started last season's Trophy campaign just as they have this one - a home tie against a League 2 side before the second game being an away tie at Ipswich. Last season, they lost that match 0-4.
- The Gills have only played away from home in 6 of the last 17 matches in this competition. They have won 2 of them but the last 2 have both ended 0-4.

Disappointing to lose, but we both made many changes showing our main concern is the League.Good to see Woods and Walsh getting minutes. We can still get through the group as well.
Noircat Premier League Champion 2007,and 2014.Noircat FA Cup (Runner Up 2014).Promoted to the Premier League (Runner Up 2017,and 2020 in the Championship).
