- The Gills last appeared in the 3rd round of the League Cup in the 2016/17 season when they lost 5-0 to Tottenham. It is their only appearance in the round in the previous 14 seasons.
- The Gills last 5 appearances in the 3rd round of the League Cup have all been away from home. Away from home in Round 3 against higher league opposition, the Gills have lost 3 out of 5 and have won 1 - a second leg victory over Coventry in 1996/7.
- The Gills have played 12 matches in the 3rd round of the League Cup (some as 2-legged matches) and their record stands at W2, D3 and L7.
- The Gills and Stoke haven't met since an FA Cup match in January 2012. The Gills only victory at Stoke also came in the League Cup - a 2-0 win in September 2003.
- Both the Gills and Stoke have won 6 meetings each with a further 5 ending as draws. The Gills have won 3 of the last 6 meetings whilst Stoke have won 2.
- Stoke are unbeaten in 2 home matches against the Gills and have only won 2 of their last 7 home games against them.

Well that was all pretty embarrassing, there isn't a gap between the First Division and the Championship, there is a bloody chasm the size of the Grand Canyon, and if you have never had the chance to see that, then let me tell you it's bloody big, lol.

Disappointing to go out,but we didn’t disgrace ourselves.Walsh did well in goal, and Woods did ok.We didn’t get thrashed. We had a good League Cup run,so no complaints from me.Hopefully we can do well in the League, then have an FA Cup run.Hopefully Bonham will be ok to play on Saturday, and Willock’s injury isn’t too bad.

We had 23 % possession, 3 shots compared to their 15, ZERO shots on Target compared to their 5, 4 corners compared to their 10, but we did win the foul race, we only had 9 compared to their 14, all in all and the fact that the reports said Stoke dominated the game from start to finish, I think it was pretty embarrassing.
