- The results between the sides are incredibly close. A win for the Gills will make it 15 wins for both sides with 15 draws! The Gills are unbeaten (3 wins) in the last 4 meetings since losing 5-0 to Scunthorpe.
- The Gills are desperate for a win after managing just 1 in 8 home games (5 defeats). They have only scored 1 first half goal in their last 8 home games and just 4 at the Town end but have scored 19 at the Rainham End.
- The Gills are winless in 4 in the league and have won 1 of their last 7. They have taken 3 fewer points at home than they have away. Scunthorpe have also taken 3 more points in their away games compared with at home.
- Between the beginning of October and the end of December Scunthorpe won 2 and lost 13 (the last 7 consecutively) from 17 games in all competitions. They have since won 6 out of 8, their only defeat being part of Barnsley's 11-game unbeaten league run.
- Scunthorpe lost their last away trip (Barnsley) 2-0 but won the 3 away league games before, conceding just 1 goal. The 3 before those saw 3 defeats without scoring - part of a 6 match losing streak that saw just 1 goal scored.
- Scunthorpe have won 132 corners, the fewest amount in League 1. It is 45 fewer than the Gills.

A massive win for the club.We started the day in the bottom four, but the win lifts us to 17th three points clear of the bottom four.It did sound like we did enough for the win.Byrne with a decent finish, but the second half not much going on.It was a must win game,so I’m pleased we stepped up to the plate and won it.
