- This is the Gills 17th trip to Portsmouth, their last visit was their only win there. They have lost 11 of the previous 16 visits including 7 out of 8 before last season's 3-1 win.
- The Gills have scored 13 goals and conceded 30 from their 16 away ties at Portsmouth. Their 3-1 win last season saw the same number of goals scored as they had managed in their previous 9 visits combined.

Ha ha, how on earth did I not see that? And where did the 2 come from? The ref was poor but how he allowed an extra 21 final minute goals is criminal! I have edited the post lol

A heavy defeat which is disappointing,but then our squad was a lot less experienced than theirs.Until they scored the quick two goals we seemed the better team.I think we will use the competition to blood youngsters mainly.I think a lot of cubs are doing this since the B Teams have been in it.I remember a few years ago we would have played a stronger team,but playing Group games too doesn`t help.
