- The Gills have only previously met Sunderland 8 times and registered 1 win (a Football League play off match in May 1987). Sunderland have won 5 of the meetings.
- The Gills last faced Sunderland in the 2004/5 season. Sunderland have lost 1, drawn 1 and won 2 of their 4 trips to Priestfield, the last seeing a Marcus Stewart hat-trick in a 4-0 win.
- Tom Eaves has 5 goals in the Gills last 2 home games and from a total of 131 minutes on the pitch. He failed to score in the 7 home games before.
- Sunderland's win on the opening day of the season was their 2nd in a row but was only their 3rd in 19 games. They have 2 wins and a draw this season.
- Sunderland have won just 1 of their last 12 league games on the road (a 4-1 win at Derby) and lost 6. A Luton equaliser denied them a win in their first away game in League 1 this season.

Only thing you need to know about this game is the GILLS will rise to the occasion and WIN,.......if they start playing from the first minute of the game. Last season I seem to remember time after time the independent reports read Gillingham came on strong in the second half, or Gillingham came on strong towards the end and were unlucky not to score when so and so headed over the bar,or shot wide of the post, but XYZ UTD hung on and came away with the 3 points, leaving Gillingham just above the relegation zone.
Is our manager instead of getting the gang excited, and chomping at the bit , sitting with Scally having a few beers , telling him everything's OK ,his assistants are working with the players, I kind of think he must be ?

Sorry I was busy throwing things across the room at the wall, haha, I meant minutes. Guess we know where we stand ,12th place in the table would seem about right come next May. Beat the teams were supposed to beat, lose to the teams that will be looking for a top 10 finish, seems like Deja Vu over and over and over and over again, ( got fed up with writing" and over" so only wrote it three times) Go Gills he said weakly.

This was a tough game as we expected. We started really well with Eaves scoring after 2 minutes, but conceding so soon after gave them the momentum to control the game with their quality. Two quick goals made me feat a 6-1 thrashing, but we did nearly pull a goal back before H/T.We started the second half well, and had a couple cleared off the line, and a penalty shout. They then got a fourth which killed us off.Credit to our players as we kept going. They took their chances, and we didn`t on the night. They had great quality so they did deserve their win,but we can be proud of our performance. If we had played another league one side we probably go home with three points and three goals.Coventry is a chance to bounce back and get three points at home
Noircat Premier League Champion 2007,and 2014.Noircat FA Cup (Runner Up 2014).Promoted to the Premier League (Runner Up 2017,and 2020 in the Championship).

I sure hope your right about us bouncing back against Coventry,if we don't then I fear it's going to be a long season. I know we have 40 +games to play, but ???
