[ 10 Apr 17 ] GILLS v Blackburn Match Thread

Postby Garawa » Tue Apr 03, 2018 2:02 pm

- There have only been 10 previous meetings with Blackburn and the Gills have lost 6 of them. The only win came in a 2-1 away victory back in November 2000.
- This is the Gills first home league tie with Blackburn since May 2001 and only the 4th in the league - the previous matches have ended 1-1, 1-2 and 1-1. A further 2 cup games ended 1-3 (the most recent meeting here in Aug 2009) and 1-2.
- The Gills have scored 9 goals in the 10 previous meetings with Blackburn (only once scoring more than 1). Rovers have scored 18 and the only time they have failed score against the Gills was in a 0-0 draw.
- Blackburn have kept 1 clean sheet in their last 11 away games but have won 8 of them. They have also won 9 of their last 12 (including the last 4) away games and lost 1 of the last 13.
- Blackburn have lost just 5 league matches (3 away from home) this season. After losing 4 of their first 11 league games, they have since lost just once in 29 - a 2-0 defeat at Plymouth.
- Blackburn are unbeaten in 10 and have won 8 of their last 9 league games. They have also won 18 out of their last 25 whilst the Gills have won 12 in total.
- Blackburn's 31 first half league goals is the 2nd highest amount scored in League 1. Their 45 second half goals is the most and is 2 more than the total scored by the Gills. Only Wigan and Luton have scored more goals in the Football League.
- Blackburn have been ahead for 706 mins in their away games (an average of 37.2 mins in every away game) and behind for just 221, both the best totals League 1. They've previously led for 1,473 mins in all league games (36.8 mins per game) and just 1 minute behind best side Wigan.

A real tough test tonight whether they have Dack or not.I think they have lost only once in 20+ games, and they have real momentum going into the last 6-7 games. We will need to perform to our best to get a result.A point would please me tonight.

Scary stuff indeed. Still we can't do any worse than we did against Sarfend can we, ......I SAID CAN WE, lol ?
Have to go to work today, think I will take a late lunch just to watch the Liverpool game, not crazy on Premier football anymore, but I guess Championship footie is a bit different.
I actually watched Ebbsfleet play instead of a Premier game last Saturday , but this should be a cracker, don't think I am going to have a bet on the number of goals scored, more likely the number of yellow and red cards, lol.
Anyone know if it is on Sky ,BT , BBC ,ITV, or A. N. Other ?

Thanks very much, I get all the UK stations on an android box, live from the UK, all over Europe,Australia, etc, just don't know which channel the games are on, it doesn't come up when you push info button. Thanks very much, start of the 2nd half should be 0-2 , but still 1 only 0-1.

Zip Zip at the half, Blackburn seem to be controlling the game but it doesn't look a very exciting game reading it on the scrolls ??

Two relegated already, Bury, and now Northampton just about sunk with a MINUS 36 goal difference , and the five teams above them all have much much worse goal differences than the Gills, what a shame the manager and players were worried about relegation for the last five or six games instead of looking for a place in the promotion race.

Amazing , bloody AMAZING, we can play defense and stop Blackburn scoring, but we can't scratch our asses and pick our noses playing the likes of Bury, MK Dons, or Sarfend, I hope Scally orders the hot water turned off to night in the showers, and Mrs S goes in their flicking them all with a wet towel.
Shame this game was PP and not played on a Saturday we could have had 8,000 there.

Well we certainly performed very well as a Team,We kept Dack and co mainly quiet, and secured a decent point. We could have even won it late on too.You can see their quality on the ball, but the whole Team defended as a Team on the Night.I thought Nugent,Ehmer, and Zakuani were the pick of the bunch winning every header
