Saturday 30th
The Gills had 14 shots at goal in the first half against Sutton, equal to or more than they managed in total during 16 of the other 23 league games played previously this season. The game ended with 24 shots, 15 fewer than the league-highest total so far, but was the Gills’ most shots in a league game in 103 games.

Sunday 31st
The Gills end the 2023 calendar year with 23 league wins, 7 league draws and 17 league defeats. In 2022, these totals were 7 wins, 16 draws and 23 defeats. They have scored 48 league goals in 2023 compared to just 24 in 46 games played in 2022.

Monday 1st
Match day - Colchester Utd v GILLS (EFL Sky Bet League 2)

Tuesday 2nd
The Gills win over Colchester was their first win on New Year's Day since 2018 when they also won away from home at Charlton. 2 wins and a defeat have occurred since. Since 2012, the Gills have played 6 times on New Year's Day with all 3 wins coming on the road.

Wednesday 3rd
Before Crawley, just 13 times during the 29 games saw a Gills player manage more than 1 shot on target in a match. Both Conor Masterson and Jonny Williams had 2 shots on target against Crawley, the first time this season this occurred for more than 1 Gills player in the same game. Only Hawkins managed 2 against Sutton despite 24 shots at goal.

Thursday 4th
The Gills have scored 2 goals in 5 games with both being goals for Malone in successive games. It took the total of goals scored by Gills' defenders this season to 10. The midfielders have scored 11 goals so far and forwards 10. The remaining 2 goals for the Gills were scored by opposition own goals.

Friday 5th
Scott Malone scored his 3rd and 4th goals of the season during the Gills' last 2 games. He has scored his goals in the 52nd, 54th, 55th and 72nd minutes. The Gills have scored 6 goals in the first 15 minutes of all their second halves this season with Malone scoring 3 of them. 3 of Malone's 4 goals have proved to be the winning ones.
