1938/9 - Southern League (finished 3rd). 1973/4 - Football League 4th Tier (finished 2nd). 1999/0 - Football League 3rd Tier (finished 3rd). 2008/9 Football League 4th Tier (finished 5th).
In 1984/5 the Gills won the most away wins from any regular season winning 10 games but the Gills missed out on promotion having finished in 4th place!
