I was impressed with Blackpool when they were in the PL as they looked to be doing it the right way. They didn't spend big and banked a lot of the money choosing instead to use it rebuild the stadium and use the parachute payments to have a second bite of the cherry should they get relegated. They did get relegated but they were in a healthy state having not spent stupid sums and had big assets in the likes of Thomas Ince. Very well done indeed!
I read a couple of weeks ago how a pre-season match of theirs featured 5 or 6 trialists and saw a tweet joking that Mr and Mrs Trialist should be proud with that amount of sons in the same squad! Today, 4 days before their season kicks off, they finally signed a goalkeeper and were up to 13 players! Not sure why filling a squad with a large number of loan players wasn't an option but more mysteriously, how did a club with such a healthy bank balance suddenly be so close to being unable to field a squad? If there is money on any club to go down this season it is them.
