Gillingham will have to “work smart” to compete with the League 2 big spenders, according to manager Neil Harris.

Harris reckons the Gills’ spending power will be beaten by a number of other teams in the EFL’s bottom tier.

Gillingham manager Neil Harris has confirmed that Robbie McKenzie will not be staying at the Football Club for the 2022/23 season.

McKenzie, 23, was offered a new deal by the Gills following the conclusion of last season but the player has decided to move on. Discussions are ongoing with Jack Tucker and Ben Thompson.

Manager Neil Harris knew it was likely that the 23-year-old right-back would be looking at options elsewhere and has now been told he won’t be signing the deal on offer.

Gillingham boss Neil Harris will utilise all he can to attract players to the club this summer.

Gillingham manager Neil Harris is in no panic over new signings.

While some clubs are making their move in the market quickly, the Gills are having to be patient and Harris has accepted it will take time.

Manager Neil Harris admits the striker department is the toughest area to fill.

Gillingham lost leading scorer Vadaine Oliver this summer and Harris didn’t have a lot else in reserve so faces a busy few weeks trying to secure some players at the top end of the pitch.

Gillingham’s players reported back for training this week but manager Neil Harris is far from finished with his summer recruitment.

Three new faces have arrived since the end of last season - as of yesterday (Wednesday) - but Harris is looking for up to 10 more to be added before the transfer window closes.

Gillingham manager Neil Harris is hoping his patience pays off in the transfer market.

Harris has players keen to join, deals that could be done imminently, but there are also some longer-term targets that could happen.
