Very strange decision. I think Payne has been one of the more consistent performers this season. Only thing I can think of is that we will get good money for the lad and that will also free-up wages to bring someone else in.

Maybe someone has made an offer so Gills want to start a bidding war? I'm sure he could play in Div 1 - was rather hoping it would be with us though. Strange comment from MA that he has no place and no future, seeing as he has featured in most games for which he was available.

My concern is that we need to keep the youngsters we have brought through the youth team otherwise when we qualify for european football we wont have any elligable players.


On a serious note though maybe Payne wants more first team action and due to allens rotation policy (which I am not a fan of but its hard to argue against at this moment in time) he cannot be guaranteed more first team action so its a mutual thing. I dont know.
