Absolutely not. Firstly, the whole thing is tongue-in-cheek thing anyway. I mean, all nominated players had to be compared to a famous movie character so it's just a bit of fun (I compared Heesy to John McClane from Die Hard, always being a thorn in the opposition side, always with a dour expression and could be found before a match wearing a vest).
Secondly, I literally was asked a day or two before it was required. I was born in 1976 so I cannot possibly comment on a player from 1974! It can be argued that 1999-2005 HAS to be our greatest time in our history what with our first win at Wembley and highest ever finish in the league so Hessy was surely a shoe-in for that!
Thirdly, as "older fans" you have the luxury of knowing the old AND the new players so still can associate with the likes of Hessy anyway.
Yes more younger fans are likely to vote for a player they know but when it is arguably one of (if not) the greatest player in our history I don't see much of an issue really. And as it is meant to raise more awareness of Prostate Cancer isn't that the point?
