Before today, our record with last season was identical - 6 wins, 1 draw and 4 defeats but the 12th game last season was won so this defeat makes us worse off at the same stage. I think last season it was a case of stop the right hand side and you stop the Gills. Teams have figured out its the same this season. I do feel we have met some of the strongest contenders early as we haven't met a mid-table side yet however we suddenly now look less potent. What worries me is how some of League 2's players with the best figures come to us and look average (Nolan, Nevitt etc). We have 4 decent number 10s who we aren't getting much out of. This side, with Lapslie in the 10 role and Dieng in holding midfield was a replication of the sides under Harris. Even when changing personel a lot, we are trying to fit them into a 4.2.3.1. I do think the better sides have a good front 2 which takes the pressure off so maybe we should try. Jayden Clarke, Gbode and Nolan could all play on the flanks, it would be who best to use centre midfield that would be the issue. We need to try something, we are too predictable.
