Well, Josh Parker's equaliser against Port Vale back when the two teams drew 1-1 at Priestfield Stadium looks like it could be the goal that keeps Gillingham In League One, we're now relying on Walsall to do Gillingham a favour if we're to avoid relegation.

Why are we relying on Walsall, a win against Northampton will give us FIFTY TWO POINTS ON THE SEASON, a loss by Bury, Shrewsbury, Port Vale and a win by the Gills will keep us up, or am I doing new maths and getting this all wrong , because if I am will someone tell me ? How any goal this season in a win could be any less important than a goal in a draw I don't understand ,don't we only get a point for a draw and three for a win,or has that changed this season , I don't understand your logic there , Josh Wrights penalty against Scunthorpe a few weeks ago gave us a 3-2 win, arn't those three points more valuable than a point from a 1-1 draw ??

Its about gifting points to sides below us. This was part of a double - Gills losing to Port Vale 1-0 only for us to equalise in injury time followed by Gills leading Chesterfield 1-0 only to concede in injury time. At the time I said I'd rather we'd have lost to Port Vale and beat Chesterfield as we would be a point better off which was correct but this would have given Vale 2 extra points. We'd now be level on points with a narrower goal difference (see below). Plus also Oldham are well clear of danger now. When they were at their lowest points, losing often and failing to score, they beat us.......twice. How different it would have looked had those results gone our way instead.

CURRENT TABLE:
Oldham..........52 points
Gillingham......49 points (-20)
Port Vale........48 points (-25)
Chesterfield....37 points

IF WE LOST TO PORT VALE BUT BEAT CHESTERFIELD:
Oldham..........52 points
Gillingham......50 points (-20)
Port Vale........50 points (-24)
Chesterfield....36 points

IF THE PORT VALE & CHESTERFIELD RESULTS STAY THE SAME BUT WE BEAT OLDHAM TWICE:
Gillingham......55 points
Port Vale........48 points
Oldham..........46 points
Chesterfield....37 points

It's not necessarily about the amount of points you get (unless you get 65+) it's more about who takes the points off of you which is why I keep moaning on about people who talk about the 50 point mark. If, like the Gills, you always gift points to the sides around you (in this case at the bottom of the league) you will need to earn a lot more points to keep clear of them.

And if I had tits I would be Stephanie not Steve. If we had beaten anyone of 13 teams between August 30th Nov 5th or between Dec26th and Feb25th we would have been out of trouble by now. No one can predict what who, or if, or when, were going to do this or that or if Oldham are going to do that, and Vale are going to do this, it's fun to do but hardly an exact science , you takes your points when you can get them.
I know at the beginning of the season we all said Gillingham were mid field heavy, but I don't think many of us expected the Gills to be in a dog fight for relegation, I for one assumed that Glasgow would have learned from his mistakes of the previous year, but of course he didn't, even though Scally gave him a free hand to bring in who he wanted ,but lets just admit it ,he is not up to snuff, he is failing at the Cobblers big time as well.
No way POOP VALE beat Fleetwood and if they did manage to draw and get a point there goal difference will always be 5 behind the Gills , just relax, take a deep bref and enjoy the game, GO GILLS.

I admire your optimism Chicago, I hope you're right. Sadly with the Gills anything can happen, but if anyone's interested, I've predicted a Gills draw on Saturday in Noir Cat. I just hope Port Vale don't win.

I am so full of confidence that Gilingham will stay in the First Division I am playing golf Sunday, there is no way on Gods Green Fairway that Vale beat Fleetwood, they will be playing for AUTOMATIC promotion, just in case Bolton slip up . I am seriously thinking of betting a few bucks through someone in the UK on this Paddy Power thing where if one team goes up by two goals they pay out and bet on Bolton and Fleetwood both to win by at least two or three goals, infact I might even go the whole hog and bet ,Gillingham, Bolton and Fleetwood to win by two goals, anyone able to loan me two bob??

It is mad how Parker`s 94th minute equaliser against Port Vale was the least celebrated goal of the season yet, really it has kept us in the league!
